The summer pools open Memorial Day weekend. That is about 6 to 7 weeks from now. We all know that you can’t change your body in a week… BUT you could see a significant difference in 6 to 7 weeks. New Year’s Resolutions don’t have to end after February, and there’s no law that says that they can’t begin in April. Now might be a great time to commit (or recommit) to a program that can run through May – either on your own or with a personal trainer. The biggest key to getting beach body ready for summer is starting before it hits!
Speaking of pools… SWIMMING can be one of the best ways to get a full body workout. Not only is it one of the highest calorie burning exercises you can do, but it helps to tone your muscles and has minimal impact on your joints. Our pool is maintained at a regular temperature of 82 degrees which is great for an intense workout. And the pool is not just for swimming, as many members walk, run, or do other aerobic exercises in the pool because of the low impact on their joints. No cannonballs please.
You know, 6 or 7 weeks might also be the right amount of time to get your kids ready to swim like dolphins with some swim lessons. We’ve partnered with Lori Weber of Lori’s H2O Skills to offer swim lessons to your children. Lori is a former college swimmer and can be contacted through her web page, or there are cards located down on the bulletin board in the pool.
Finally – if you get in shape, and the kids are swimming like Michael Phelps, but you don’t have a place to swim outdoors in the summer, don’t forget that our members get a discounted rate to join the Stillmeadow Country Club pool for the summer. It can be a great place for the entire family to hang out and beat the heat this summer. I think they do allow cannonballs there as well.
