One of the final scenes from the 1988 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sallyfeatures the title characters, played by Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, discussing the meaning of the traditional New Year’s song “ Auld Lang Syne .”
Harry: What does this song mean? My whole life, I don’t know what this song means. I mean, ‘Should old acquaintance be forgot’? Does that mean that we should forget old acquaintances, or does it mean if we happened to forget them, we should remember them, which is not possible because we already forgot?
Sally: Well, maybe it just means that we should remember that we forgot them or something. Anyway, it’s about old friends.
No matter what it means, we know that it conveys warm wishes for a happy and prosperous new year with old and new friends. That is our hope for you in 2016!
We worked hard during 2015 to make improvements around the club – inside and out – including new pole banners, a new sign and landscaping at our entrance, and 2 new roofs on the tennis buildings. We hope that you’ve noticed these upgrades and they help to make you feel even more welcome.
