Summer is Coming – Get Your Beach Body Ready Before It’s Too Late!

Ah, summer! The sun is out, the air is warm and it’s time to break out the shorts and swim suits! If your body isn’t quite up to beach standards, don’t worry … we at Beechmont Racquet and Fitness are here to help.

We all know that sometimes our busy lives get in the way of our fitness. But, in order to be your best in your personal and professional lives, you have to prioritize your own health and wellbeing. A busy career is sometimes our biggest obstacle, creating scheduling conflicts and lack of motivation from being exhausted at the end of the workday.

But, it is possible to get fit, even if you have a demanding job. In fact, committing to a workout plan can even help you manage stress and become more efficient.

Here are six tips from an article on greatist.com about how to fit exercise into a busy work schedule and get your beach body on track!

  1. Work Out Efficiently

Choose a workout that you can do anywhere – in the office, on the road or at home. Exercises that require little preparation and provide significant impact in a short amount of time are ideal, such as: high-intensity interval training (HIT), tabata, bodyweight exercises or running.

  1. Choose a Workout You Like

You may love running and hate yoga. Or vise versa. No matter your exercise of choice, you are much more likely to make the time for your workout if you choose something you enjoy doing. If you haven’t found the perfect workout yet, keep experimenting with different exercises or classes until you find one that matches your workout personality.

  1. Use Competitions as Motivation

Highly successful people often reach their level of accomplishment by being competitive. Whether you’re in a challenge with coworkers, taking part in a race or other fitness contest or simply tracking to track and beat your own PR, competition can be the motivation you need to stay on track.

  1. Make a Schedule and Commit to It

The most cited reason for not working out is “I don’t have time.” The truth is, everyone can find a little time every day to invest in themselves and get fit. Make a schedule (write it down if it helps!), stick to it, and remind yourself that working out is a priority worth keeping.

  1. Track Your Activity Levels

A common adage in the corporate world is “If you don’t measure it, it doesn’t exist.” While that might be a slight exaggeration, tracking your fitness can really help you stay on track. With the endless number of fitness trackers, websites and apps available today, you can have a plethora of information specific to your fitness and workouts – including data, charts, reminders – literally at your fingertips.

  1. Choose Something Over Nothing

Despite what you may have heard, you don’t need an hour—or even 30 minutes—to get a complete, effective workout. And some exercise is always better than none. With an effective program, and done frequently enough, short and speedy workouts can do wonders for both the body and mind.

If you find that you still need extra support for motivation and ideas, we have personal trainers that can whip you into beach body shape in no time. Find out more here.

When you’re ready to show off your beach body, head to the Stillmeadow pool.
